首先，我们来看一下《中国日报》的报道：
BEIJING - A new draft, released by the Ministry of Health in September, allowing the existence of staphylococcus aureus - a currently prohibited bacterium - in frozen food, has attracted wide attention, especially given that four major manufacturers of frozen food in the country have been accused of producing bacteria-contaminated food in the past two months.

在报道中，frozen food指的就是“速冻食品、冷冻食品”。frozen在这里的意思是“冷冻的、冷藏的”，例如：He gave his name to a well-known brand of frozen food.（他以自己的名字命名的冷冻食品成了。）frozen的动词是freeze，意思是“（使）结冰”，例如：A freezer freezes water solid.（冰箱能使水结成固体。）freeze也可以表示“冻结（资金、银行账户等）”，比如freeze assets（冻结资产）。当然，速冻食品也可以表达为quick-frozen snacks。

速冻食品的优势是之一在于低温下微生物（microorganism）不宜繁殖。之前三全、思念、湾仔码头等速冻食品都被查出金黄色葡萄球菌（golden staph）超标，但是根据新国标（new national standard），在抽检（spot check）时运行限量检出这种细菌。我们常见的速冻食品有速冻水饺（quick-frozen dumplings）、速冻馄饨（quick-frozen wonton）、速冻汤圆（quick-frozen  glue pudding）等等。
