为什么是“tainted”

从learn English 的角度讲，形容词“tainted”指的是 “corrupted or filled with imperfections”（败坏的或者是含有不合格添加剂的）尤其指食品，Nouns to which "tainted" is often applied: food, meat, beef, pork, milk（前几年的三聚氰胺奶粉，就是tainted-milk）…

“tainted” not only means that the food is inedible ,but also implies discolouration.

“tainted”给人的感觉不仅是这个食物不能吃，还有这个食物的颜色也变了，比较符合染色馒头的“意境”。

再问，为什么是“tainted”

从2月份的“可燃面条”（ chemically treated noodles）到3月份的“瘦肉猪”（lean-meat pig）4月份的“染色馒头”，为什么每个月的互联网都必有一个化学食品上榜？为什么我们的食品总是“tainted”呢？

主要的原因还是对于商人的违法行为的处罚力度太小，以及部分官员的执行“不靠谱”。
