delay用法注意
1. 用作动词，表示“推迟”、“耽误”、“延误”等，其后可接名词或动名词作宾语，但一般不接不定式(偶尔可见，学生不宜用)。如：
We decided to delay (going on) our holiday till [until, to] next month. 我们决定把假期推迟到下个月。
【注】有时用作不及物动词。如：
It’s getting late. Don’t delay. 很晚了，别耽搁了。
He delayed in answering the letter. 他推迟回信。
2. 用作名词，表示“耽误”、“延期”等，可用作可数或不可数名词。如：
We must leave without delay. 我们必须马上离开。
There was a delay of two hours before the plane took off. 飞机起飞推迟了两小时。
比较正误句型(注意正确句型 delay in doing sth)：
这就是我推迟动身的原因。
误：That is the reason of my delay to leave.
误：That is the reason of my delay of leaving.
正：That is the reason of my delay in leaving.
