Allen Haughay Jr., an Apple software engineer who found his dream job at the tech giant, died Saturday while riding his horse to a neighbor’s party in Morgan Hill.

Headed to a mariachi party at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, Haughay, 48, was on Hale Avenue in Morgan Hill when the truck hit him and his horse, vaulting him off the horse. He landed on a parked Ford.

Haughay suffered severe head injuries and was taken to Valley Medical Center by helicopter, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup was not arrested, the Merc reported.

Abel Urbina, Haughay’s partner, who was in Los Angeles when the accident occurred, told the Merc that Haughay was “the happiest person.”

"I'm going to miss him terribly. This is a complete life-changer for me," Urbina said.
