“I'm as dry as a bone! Let's get some whiskey!” Larry the cowboy said to Harry as he brushed the dust off of his pants and tied his horse to the post.
“And I'm as dry as dust,” Harry replied while climbing down from his horse.“This day is as good as done! There's a bar right over there. As far as I know, they got whisky as cheap as dirt.”
“That's fine as far as I'm concerned!” Larry replied with a laugh.
The two cowboys wandered into the bar as if it was heaven.
“Two whiskeys, barkeeper!” Larry yelled. “And make it fast!”
“There's no reason to yell, cowboy! As it is, I can hear as clear as a bell,” replied the barkeeper as he handed both cowboys their whiskeys. They both downed the whisky in one long drink.
“Whew! Now I feel as fit as a fiddle!” Harry said. “Who cares if my head is as clear as mud? Let's get another round!”
The rest of the story continued as follows: Larry and Harry drank all the whiskey at hand and became as cross as two sticks. They started brawling and the barkeeper eventually threw them both out the door as far as he could.
As for Larry and Harry, they woke up the next morning with horrible hangovers. They thought that meant they had a good night and went back to their ranches happier than ever!
They didn't know that they would never be allowed in that bar again!
