一、时间问题：

Time may be the crucial factor in the sales increase of Fish Emporium. According to the passage, Fish Emporium’s advertising in Exotic Pets Monthly started five years ago: in other words, advertising has been five years. Thus, it may be the constant advertising for five years that contributed to the sales increase. In other words, the probable case is that no increase would take place unless a business is advertised for such a long period of time.

二、它因问题：

The overall 15 percent increase in sales and the even greater one in the three stores may be attributed to other reasons rather than the advertising in the magazine Exotic Pets Monthly. For example, blah blah blah.

三、个体差异（地点差异）问题：

1. Fish Emporium and Top Dog are two different businesses, one doing fish-related business and the other doing business regarding dogs. This difference may render Fish Emporium’s act ineffective in the case of Top Dog.

2. The success in Fish Emporium stores may be related to the stores’ business scales, which may be large, medium or small, but are not specified. Therefore, such success cannot be guaranteed in Top Dog’s stores in Gulf City, which are some of the business’s largest stores.

四、程度问题：

1. The decline may not be reversed although it may be alleviated。

2. Increased sales do not necessarily bring profits, considering the costs.

The following appeared as an editorial in the student newspaper of Groveton College.

"To combat the recently reported dramatic rise in cheating among college students, colleges and universities should adopt honor codes similar to Groveton's, which calls for students to agree not to cheat in their academic endeavors and to notify a faculty member if they suspect that others have cheated. Groveton's honor code replaced an old-fashioned system in which teachers closely monitored students. Under that system, teachers reported an average of thirty cases of cheating per year. The honor code has proven far more successful: in the first year it was in place, students reported twenty-one cases of cheating; five years later, this figure had dropped to fourteen. Moreover, in a recent survey conducted by the Groveton honor council, a majority of students said that they would be less likely to cheat with an honor code in place than without."
