The 1960s onwards: cassettes and the Walkman

　　In the 1960s, the first cassette records became popular. A big step towards modern technology was the invention of the first portable cassette player the ‘Walkman’, by the Japanese company, Sony in 1979. For the first time, people could listen to their favourite music while they were traveling, doing sports, or going for walks.

　　20世纪60年代，批盒式录音带开始流行。日本索尼公司于1979年发明了台便携式盒式录音机——“随身听”，这是迈向现代科技的一大步。次，人们可以在旅行、运动或散步时听他们最喜欢的音乐。
