Great comic art is never other-worldly, it does not seek to mystify us, and it does not deny ambiguity by branding as evil whatever differs from good. Great comic artists assume that truth may bear all lights, and thus they seek to accentuate contradictions in social action, not gloss over or transcend them by appeals to extra-social symbols of divine ends, cosmic purpose, or laws of nature. The moment of transcendence in great comic art is a social moment, born out of the conviction that we are human, even though we try to be gods. The comic community to which artists address themselves is a community of reasoning, loving, joyful, compassionate beings, who are willing to assume the human risks of acting rationally. Without invoking gods or demons, great comic art arouses courage in reason, courage which grows out of trust in what human beings can do as humans. * other-worldly = 超脱世俗的 * mystify = 使困惑 * branding as evil whatever differs from good = branding whatever differs from good as evil。 于是,就说明brand as evil,再说明as evil的是什么,是whatever differs from good。 * accentuate = 强调 * gloss over = 掩盖 The passage suggests that great comic art can be characterized as optimistic about the ability of humans to (A) rid themselves of pride (B) transcend the human condition(文中说了NOT gloss over or transcend,于是冲突了。) (C) differentiate clearly between good and evil(文中说了NOT deny ambiguity,怎么会是clearly。) (D) avoid social conflicts (文中没有任何信息提及或相关。) (E) act rationally (文中最后出现了who are willing to assume the human risks of acting rationally和arouses courage in reason。) It can be inferred from the passage that the author admires great comic artists primarily for their (A) ability to understand the frequently subtle differences between good and evil (冲突于文中的NOT deny ambiguity by branding as evil whatever differs from good) (B) ability to reconcile the contradictions in human behavior (冲突于文中的accentuate contradictions) (C) ability to distinguish between rational and irrational behavior (文中没有任何信息提及或相关。) (D) insistence on confronting the truth about the human condition(符合文中的the conviction that we are human, even though we try to be gods) (E) insistence on condemning human faults and weaknesses (文中没有任何信息提及或相关。) Which of the following is the most accurate description of the organization of the passage? (A) A sequence of observations leading to a prediction (抽象名词:observations、a prediction。 (B) A list of inferences drawn from facts stated at the beginning of the passage (抽象名词:inferences、facts。 (C) A series of assertions related to one general subject(抽象名词:assertions、one general subject。 (D) A statement of the major idea, followed by specific examples (抽象名词:the major ideas、specific examples。逻辑关系词:followed by,说明:the major ideas在先,specific examples在后) (E) A succession of ideas moving from specific to general
