Company opens day care for employees

为员工开设日托贴心服务的公司

A company in Pudong New Area has set up a day-care center at its offices in Shanghai Zhangjiang High-Tech Park to help its full-time employees who have young children, a company spokesperson told the Global Times Thursday.

在上海浦东新区张江高科技园区有这样一家公司，在办公室里建立了日托所。周四该公司发言人告诉《环球时报》记者，此举是为帮助有小孩的全职员工，让他们无后顾之忧。

The company, Shanghai Hujia Cultural and Communication Co Ltd, bucks the trend as most companies in the city have cut back on day-care services for employees over the last two decades.

在过去的20年里，上海的大部分公司都削减了员工的日托服务。但上海互加文化传播有限公司却没有跟随趋势，而是坚持将贴心的日托服务发展下去。

Day-care centers had been prevalent in local companies until about 20 years ago, said Dong Xiaoping, a researcher at the Children's Development Center at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. However, as State-owned enterprises gave way to private companies during the economic reforms of the 1990s, day-care services have fallen by the wayside.

上海社会科学院儿童发展研究中心的董晓平教授表示，20年前日托中心在上海本地公司很是普遍，但随着90年代的改革开放以来，国有企业慢慢给私营企业让路，日托服务也慢慢衰落下去。

Hujia Cultural and Communication opened the 78-square-meter day-care center in November, said Wu Wei, an employee in the company's marketing department. About 60 percent of the company's 400 employees are women, 15 of whom are mothers with children under 3 years old.

互加文化传播有限公司的商务部的吴巍介绍到，公司在11月份开始了这个占地78平方米的日托中心。该公司400名员工中有60%的员工为女性，其中有15人有三岁以下的宝宝。

"As the majority of our company's employees are female, we hope that we can help them out by offering them a space to look after their young children," Wu said.

他表示：“由于我们公司的大部分员工都是女性，所以我们希望为他们提供一个这样的空间，能帮助他们照顾孩子。”

Wu said that the privately owned company had spent more than 300,000 yuan ($47,464.50) to renovate the office and buy toys and furniture for the day-care center.

他介绍到，公司作为一家私营企业，为了这个日托中心花费了超过30万元人民币来改造办公室、买玩具和家具。

The practice was well received among female employees. "I am so glad that I can bring my child to the office because my husband and I are both non-locals and our parents cannot be here to look after our child," a employee named Qing Zhu told the Global Times. "It saves me a lot of trouble."

这一举措在公司的女性员工中大受好评。”真开心我可以带孩子来公司上班了。我和我丈夫都不是本地人，父母也没办法帮我们照看孩子。”公司的一名员工青竹告诉《环球时报》说。“真的节省了我很多麻烦。”

Dong said workplace day care was worth promoting as children need a lot of attention early on. However, she suggested that company ought to provide child-care professionals because specialized knowledge and skills are necessary to take care of young children.

董教授表示，工作场所带日托中心很值得推广，因为应该对孩子们早关注。不过，她建议公司应该提供专业的儿童护理服务，因为照顾小朋友，专业的知识和技能必不可少。
