「Task 2」
It is better to relax by watching a movie or reading a book than by doing physical exercise. Do you agree or disagree?
People, especially those with a hectic schedule, need to slow down. Some argue watching a movie or reading a book is a proper way to relieve stresses and strains compared with doing physical exercises. I tend to think otherwise.
First, a person’s mind cannot unload during watching a movie or reading, and conversely the person can unwind through physical exercising. A busy day of work or study strains a person intellectually and mentally, and watching a movie or reading, which demands thinking, does not ease the tension but burden the person. In addition, as the end of a day draws near, a person may still be preoccupied with the work-related trivialities and thus cannot perform any further tasks as long as they provoke thoughts. It naturally follows that watching a movie or reading is undesirable. By stark contrast, requiring practice and proficiency rather than the sophisticated thinking, doing sports, in essence, is thus preferable. It diverts the person’s attention, vacatesthe mind, and consequently frees the person from heavy workload.
Another merit derived from taking physical exercises is that the venue is more desirable. More precisely, reading books or watching movies usually happen indoors, which indicates an individual is usually oppressed mentally since the roof and walls are the confinement and the artificial lighting exhausts the person. Even if one goes out to read under the sunlight, the sunlight harms his or her eyesight. At this point, things can be different if the person does physical exercise. The outdoor environment is fairly nourishing, with gentle breeze, vast expanse, and cleansing air, which all help the person alleviate the stress.
In conclusion, physical exercise has a minimum of two obvious advantages over reading books or watching movies. Therefore, doing physical exercise is more recommendable.
