While 在雅思考试的阅读和写作中是一个高频词，更是一个灵活度很高的高分衔接词。虽然它也有名词词性，但是意思单一，在雅思写作中加分作用不大，作“一会儿”或者“一段时间”讲，所以在本文中，王茳老师只和童鞋们一起来分析一下while作连词的四种用法，以使大家的文章语言更简洁、精炼且语法更多样。

　　1. 引导时间状语，“当”，强调的是两个过程同时进行，如：

　　在经济学家们满足于他们的丰功伟绩的同时，环境问题已经悄然产生。

　　While economists are indulged in the complacent of their strokes, environmental problems has creeped up.

　　当公共设施建设越来越为政府增加压力时，监狱存在的必要性陷入了进退两难的局面。

　　While infrastructure construction is increasingly pushing government under great pressure, the necessity of prison falls into embarrassment.

　　2. 引导条件状语，“只要”

　　While there is a life, there is hope.

　　只要个人足够注意节约用水，那么水资源匮乏的问题就迎刃而解。

　　While individuals raise enough awareness about water conservation, water shortage tend to be readily solved.

　　3. 引导让步状语，“尽管”

　　While的这个用法在剑4到剑9的阅读文章中高频出现，而且在王老师所在的新航道学校编著的跟踪雅思真题的教材《9分达人》中也有高度体现，如：

　　While we may not fully understand birds’ reasons for going to particular places, we can marvel at their feats. (《9分达人》， 59页，C段)

　　根据以上native的文章，童鞋们可以把while的这个用法搬到我们的写作中来，如：

　　尽管我承认网络的广泛使用有问题存在，但我不同意这些问题不能解决。

　　While admitting that problems indeed exist in the wide spread of Internet, I can hardly agree that they cannot be solved.

　　小作文中也可以使用：

　　The proportion of unemployees in Canada, while declined smoothly from twelve percent to under eight percent in the first six years, rebounded to eleven percent over the following three years till 1992.

　　4. 并列连词，表对比

　　家长对每天的家庭作业普遍持积极态度，但孩子们却表现出了抵制情绪。

　　(其实就是“家长喜欢家庭作业，孩子不喜欢”，为了得高分，我们要尽量高大上，所以在作文中要使用书面语，童鞋们一定要注意。)

　　Parents generally hold a favorable association with everyday homework, while their children show an objective attitude toward it.

　　小作文中也高频出现：

　　University students made up the major distribution of employees in low paid occupations (65%), while high school students ranked the bottom with 8%.
